Need a little help with something in the house?
Here are quick instructions for some of the most-used appliances and features at RJK Shore Vacations.

Nest Thermostat

The Nest Thermostat controls the heating and cooling in the home. It has been configured with minimum
and maximum temperature limits to help maintain a comfortable environment and protect the system.

To Adjust the Temperature

  1. Wake the thermostat by touching the display or pressing the thermostat.
  2. Turn the outer ring or use the touch controls to adjust the temperature.
  3. Select the desired temperature within the available range.
  4. The system will automatically heat or cool the home as needed.

Helpful Reminders

  • The thermostat has preset minimum and maximum temperature limits. Temperatures cannot be set
    outside this range.
  • Please do not change the thermostat’s schedule, system settings or temperature limits.
  • Keep doors and windows closed while the heating or cooling system is running.
  • Avoid setting the thermostat to an extreme temperature, as this will not cool or heat the home
    faster.
  • If the thermostat displays an alert or the system does not appear to be working, please contact the
    property manager.

Grill

The grill is available for your use during your stay.

When You’re Finished

  • Please turn the propane tank OFF after every use.
  • Clean the grill grates after cooking.
  • Make sure the grill has completely cooled before covering it.

Run Out of Propane?

No problem! A spare propane tank is available.
If you need to replace the tank:

  1. Turn the empty propane tank completely off.
  2. Disconnect the empty tank.
  3. Connect the spare tank and make sure the connection is secure.
  4. Place the empty tank next to the grill.

We’ll take care of having the empty tank refilled for the next guest.

Please do not throw away or exchange the empty propane tank.

Garbage Disposal

The kitchen sink is equipped with a garbage disposal for small amounts of food residue.

To Use

  1. Run cold water into the sink.
  2. Turn on the garbage disposal.
  3. Slowly place small amounts of food waste into the disposal.
  4. Let the disposal run until the grinding sound stops.
  5. Turn the disposal off.
  6. Allow the cold water to continue running for several seconds.

Please Do Not Put These Down the Disposal

  • Grease, oil or fat
  • Bones
  • Seafood shells
  • Eggshells
  • Coffee grounds
  • Fibrous foods such as corn husks, celery or onion skins
  • Large quantities of food
  • Glass, metal, plastic or other non-food items

Never put your hand or fingers into the garbage disposal.

Washer & Dryer

The washer and dryer are located on the second floor and are available for your use during your stay.

Laundry baskets are provided in the bedroom closets for your convenience.

Washer

  1. Place laundry in the washer without overfilling it.
  2. Add laundry detergent.
  3. Select the appropriate wash cycle.
  4. Start the washer.

Dryer

  1. Clean the lint filter before each load.
  2. Place wet laundry in the dryer.
  3. Select the appropriate drying cycle.
  4. Start the dryer.

Please remove your laundry when the cycle is complete.

Please do not overload either machine.

Dishwasher

The dishwasher is available for your use during your stay.

To Use

  1. Scrape excess food from dishes before loading.
  2. Load dishes without blocking the spray arms.
  3. Place dishwasher detergent in the detergent compartment.
  4. Close the dishwasher securely.
  5. Select the desired cycle.
  6. Press Start.

A Few Helpful Reminders

  • Please use dishwasher detergent only — regular dish soap will create excessive suds.
  • Do not place wood, cast iron or other non-dishwasher-safe items in the dishwasher.
  • Make sure tall items do not interfere with the spray arms.
  • If the dishwasher doesn’t immediately begin after pressing Start, make sure the door is completely closed and latched.

Bella 2-in-1 Coffee Maker

The Bella 2-in-1 Coffee Maker can brew either a full pot of coffee or a single serving.

To Use

  1. Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable surface.
  2. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water.
  3. Do not overfill the water tank. There is a small hole near the top of the tank that indicates the maximum fill level.
  4. Add coffee grounds to the filter basket, or prepare a single-serve pod according to the coffee maker’s design.
  5. Place the carafe or single-serve cup securely in position.
  6. Select the desired brewing option.
  7. Press Start and allow the coffee maker to complete the brewing cycle.
  8. Turn the coffee maker off when finished.

Helpful Reminders

  • Do not exceed the water tank’s maximum fill level.
  • Keep the coffee maker on a dry surface away from the edge of the counter.
  • Use caution when handling the carafe, coffee and hot water.
  • Do not remove the carafe or cup while coffee is actively brewing unless the machine’s pause feature is designed for that purpose.
  • Allow the coffee maker to cool before cleaning.
  • Do not immerse the coffee maker, cord or plug in water.

Cleaning

  1. Turn off and unplug the coffee maker.
  2. Allow it to cool completely.
  3. Remove and empty the filter basket and grounds.
  4. Wash the removable parts with warm, soapy water.
  5. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth.
  6. Dry all parts completely before reassembling.

Bella Air Fryer

The Bella Air Fryer is available for quick, convenient cooking during your stay.

To Use

  1. Place the air fryer on a flat, heat-resistant surface with space around the sides and back for ventilation.
  2. Plug the air fryer into a grounded outlet.
  3. Place food in the basket. Do not overfill it; leave room for hot air to circulate.
  4. Slide the basket securely into the air fryer.
  5. Set the desired temperature and cooking time using the controls.
  6. Press Start if required.
  7. Shake or turn the food halfway through cooking for more even results.
  8. When cooking is complete, carefully remove the basket using the handle. The basket and food will be hot.

Helpful Reminders

  • Preheating is optional unless your recipe specifically calls for it.
  • Use oven mitts when handling the basket or cooked food.
  • Do not place the air fryer on or near a hot stovetop.
  • Do not cover the air intake or exhaust vents.
  • Do not use metal utensils or abrasive cleaners on the nonstick basket.
  • Never put water or other liquids directly into the main air fryer unit.
  • Do not leave the air fryer unattended while it is operating.

Cleaning

  1. Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool completely.
  2. Remove the basket and tray.
  3. Wash the removable parts with warm, soapy water.
  4. Wipe the inside and outside of the main unit with a damp cloth.
  5. Dry all parts completely before reassembling.

Bella Crock Pot / Slow Cooker

The Bella Crock Pot/Slow Cooker is available for convenient, low-temperature cooking during your stay.

To Use

  1. Place the slow cooker on a flat, heat-resistant surface away from the edge of the counter.
  2. Add ingredients to the removable cooking pot. Do not fill it more than two-thirds full.
  3. Place the lid securely on the cooking pot.
  4. Plug the slow cooker into a grounded outlet.
  5. Select the desired heat setting: Low, High or Warm.
  6. Allow the food to cook according to your recipe. Keep the lid on as much as possible to maintain the cooking temperature.
  7. When cooking is complete, turn the slow cooker off and unplug it.
  8. Use oven mitts when handling the lid or cooking pot, as they may be hot.

Helpful Reminders

  • Do not operate the slow cooker without the removable cooking pot in place.
  • Do not use the removable cooking pot on a stovetop, in an oven or under a broiler unless the manufacturer’s instructions specifically allow it.
  • Do not immerse the electrical base, cord or plug in water.
  • Keep the slow cooker away from water and other heat sources.
  • Do not move the slow cooker while it contains hot food or liquid.
  • Avoid lifting the lid unnecessarily during cooking.
  • Do not leave the slow cooker unattended for extended periods.

Cleaning

  1. Turn off and unplug the slow cooker.
  2. Allow the cooking pot and lid to cool completely.
  3. Remove the cooking pot and lid from the electrical base.
  4. Wash the removable parts with warm, soapy water.
  5. Wipe the electrical base with a damp cloth.
  6. Dry all parts completely before reassembling or storing.

Roku TVs

The Roku TVs are available for streaming entertainment during your stay. Each TV includes a Roku interface and remote control.

To Turn On the TV

  1. Press the Power button on the Roku remote.
  2. Wait a few moments for the TV and Roku home screen to load.
  3. Use the arrow buttons to navigate through the available options.
  4. Press OK to select an app or menu item.

To Watch Cable or Local TV

  1. Turn on the TV using the Roku remote.
  2. From the Roku home screen, select the appropriate TV input or live TV option.
  3. Use the channel controls or on-screen guide to select a channel.

To Use Streaming Apps

  1. From the Roku home screen, select the streaming app you would like to use.
  2. Press OK to open the app.
  3. Use the existing guest profile, if available.
  4. If you sign in to a personal streaming account, please remember to sign out before checking out.

Helpful Reminders

  • Please do not purchase movies, shows or subscriptions using the TV.
  • Do not change the TV’s network, system or parental-control settings.
  • Keep the Roku remote with the TV when you leave.
  • If the remote does not respond, make sure the TV is turned on and replace the batteries if needed.
  • If the TV displays a message that it is not connected to the internet, please contact the property manager.
  • Please do not unplug the TV or Roku equipment unless instructed to do so.

When You’re Finished

  1. Press the Power button on the Roku remote.
  2. Leave the remote in a visible location near the TV.
  3. If you signed in to a personal streaming account, sign out before departure.
